Mr. George Kerkloh, Health and Safety Engineer of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has joined the staff of Caritas Ghana as Technical Advisor for its E-waste Project – Care For Our Common Home.
The appointment is part of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the German Development Co-Operation – GIZ to provide technical support to the project.
Inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato Si, the project by the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference is a social enterprise initiative to provide jobs for the unemployed youth and address major environmental hazards arising from poor management of electronic waste in Ghana.
The project started with the establishment of collection centres at the National Catholic Secretariat and the City of Hope (Agbogbloshie) in Accra and to be replicated in all Dioceses in the country.
