Border Officials engaged in a roundtable discussion to strengthen border security.

As part of Caritas Ghana’s partnership with ICMPD to strengthen Ghana’s border security, a roundtable workshop was organized for selected border officials of the Ghana Immigration Service at Tamale on the 23rd of March, 2023, at the Nim Avenue Hotel located at Russian Bungalows off the road to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

In attendance were ten (10) officers selected from Tamale, Yendi, Tatale, Saboba, Paga, Pulmakom, Bolgatanga, Nandom, Lawra, and Wa. Also present were three (3) staff of Caritas Ghana, namely: Mr. David Y. Issaka, Ms. Georgina Mabe, and Mr. Shadrack Armah.

The workshop, facilitated by Dr. Gbensuglo Alidu Bukari, focused on two main areas, namely:
1. Border related-issues: smuggling, irregular migration, and trafficking-in-person;
2. How to a). handle these issues, b). handle data management and c). capture these miscreants (smugglers, irregular migrants, and human traffickers).

The entire training session was really interactive: questions were asked both ways, and experiences were shared.
